Rocher-du-Nord School School transport

Regular school transportation (morning and evening on school days) for students at École Rocher-du-Nord is a service offered free of charge to any young person who lives more than 1.6 kilometres from the school.

Students may be required to go to pick-up points that are up to 400 metres from their homes.

Access to transportation is provided for a single address. Any other type of use must be authorized by the Conseil scolaire francophone provincial (CSFP).

Although morning and evening school transportation is free, it is possible that a contribution from parents or caregivers may be requested during outings for extracurricular activities.

Safety rules

At Rocher-du-Nord, we attach the utmost importance to the safety of school bus passengers, regardless of their age. Even though school bus safety is the responsibility of the School as well as bus drivers, it is very important for you, the parents, to know these tips and to collaborate in ensuring that your children respect them.

To board safely:

Be at the stop before the bus arrives. Do not run to the stop or when you get off the bus.
Wait until the bus is at the designated location well back from the road before starting to board.
Remember what is called the danger zone. This is the area around the bus where you can touch the bus. If you are in this zone, the driver cannot see you.
The driver will stop the bus and turn on the flashing red lights. When he or she sees that all vehicles behind are stopped and deems it safe to cross the road. Still watch for traffic and walk across the road. Do not run.
If you must cross the road to get to the stop, wait until the bus has come to a complete stop and the following steps have been completed before crossing.
Hold the ramp when boarding the bus.

When the bus is running:

Sit down without delay, always facing the front of the vehicle.
Place your belongings on your lap and don't put your feet in the driveway.
Never stick your head out. your arm or object out of the bus. Do not throw anything out of the windows or into the bus.
Speak in a low voice so as not to disturb the driver.
It is forbidden to fight, shout or play in or near the bus.
Always follow the driver's instructions.

To get off the bus safely:

Hold the ramp and move away from the vehicle as soon as possible.
Let the people in front of you out first.
If you drop something near the bus, don't pick it up. Tell the driver or another adult.
Follow the instructions of the person in charge of monitoring the arrival of your bus to enter the school.
