The Conseil scolaire francophone provincial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador is now accepting kindergarten registrations for the 2027 school year. It’s time to secure a place for your child in a French-language school in Newfoundland and Labrador.
What is a French first language school?
CSFP schools are not immersion programs. They are French first language schools: the entire school curriculum, from kindergarten to Grade 12, is conducted in French, in an environment that fosters your child’s Francophone and/or Acadian identity.
Prepare your child with the Kinderstart program
The Kinderstart program is designed to offer children a gradual introduction to the French first language school environment. In four sessions conducted with parents or guardians, future students discover the school environment through games, engaging activities, and enriching discussions. Each child receives a bag of educational materials as well as two French books to support their language immersion at home. A wonderful opportunity to build connections with the school and become familiar with the joy of learning in French.
Is my child eligible?
Your application will be accepted if you belong to the legally designated group of eligible individuals. You may be admitted if you are a Canadian citizen and meet one of the following criteria:
- Your language: Your first language learned and still understood is French.
- Your education: You received your primary education in a French first language school in Canada.
- Your child’s education: One of your children is or has received their primary or secondary education in a French first language school in Canada. (A copy of their most recent report card is required.)
- Your parent’s language: One of your parents is a French-speaking Canadian citizen (their first language learned or still understood is French).
- Your origin: You are from or live in the Port-au-Port Peninsula.
- Alternative option: If you do not meet any of the admission criteria listed above, complete the “Application for Permission to Admit (Other Cases)” section of the Application Form.

There, you can submit your application, check the schools available in your area, and get all the information you need for the 2027 school year. CSFP’s French first language schools are located throughout the province, from St. John’s to Labrador, including the Port-au-Port Peninsula.
