In the French as a first language program, instruction is in French, at all levels and in all subjects, except for the second language, English, which is taught starting in the fourth grade.
We also have a mandate to promote knowledge and preservation of the culture and traditions of the Francophonie. We pursue this objective both through the classroom curriculum and in extracurricular activities that connect our students with other Francophones in the province and elsewhere.
The Head Start program is designed for children entering kindergarten next year and their parents.
Jumpstart sessions will allow your child to experience kindergarten one year before they enrol in school. These sessions will ensure a smooth transition to school. As parents, you will also participate in sessions where you will receive information to help you support your child’s learning at home. You will also meet other parents of children enrolled in the program.
Kindergarten to Grade 3
The primary curriculum includes kindergarten and grades 1 to 3. At the elementary level, the following subjects are taught: French, mathematics, science, social studies, religious education, health, visual arts, music and physical education. Elementary school, especially kindergarten and Grade 1, is taught according to the philosophy of learning through play. Play is the cornerstone of all learning, and the best way to get the child to explore various scenarios, take risks and solve problems. Play is also a means of expression, creation and development on various levels (social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical, for example). Children who are five (5) years of age on December 31 of the school year are eligible to attend kindergarten.Education
Grades 4 to 6
The elementary level includes grades 4 to 6. Students follow French, mathematics, science, social studies, religious education, health, visual arts, music and physical education. Starting in Grade 4, the second language, English, is added, which students take until the end of secondary school.Education
