New health measures will impact schools as of next Monday, November 1. During the update on the Covid-19 situation, the province’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, announced that certain special measures will now be extended to students starting in kindergarten. This means that all students will have to wear masks at all times indoors, including in the classroom.

Until now, apart from adults, this has only concerned young people in grades 4 to 12. Students from kindergarten to grade 6 will also have to respect the cohorts indoors and as much as possible outdoors to reduce the possible spread of the virus between classes.

The CSFP will therefore ensure that all the schools concerned will comply with the new instructions.

Dr. Fitzgerald says these measures are temporary, until children under the age of 11 can be vaccinated.

Masks mandatory in classrooms from kindergarten on

As of Monday, November 1st, new sanitary measures will impact schools. Speaking today during the Covid-19 update, the province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr Janice Fitzgerald, has announced that some of the Special Measures order will be extended to students from kindergarten on. As such, masks will now be required at all times indoors, including when children are seated in their classrooms.

Until now, apart from adults, it only concerned young people from grade 4 to grade 12. Students from kindergarten to grade 6 will also start cohorting again indoors and whenever possible, outdoors, to reduce the potential transmission of the virus.

The CSFP will ensure that concerned schools comply with the new measures.
